Antique Vintage Art Deco ring. 18k gold and two-colored boulder opal. French, made circa 1920's. Length of opal is 3/4 inch (17mm); total length of bezel is 1 inch (24mm).
Description: Art Deco design with strong geometric forms. Stirrup shaped band terminating with hinges that support an oval, gold enclosed opal, allowing the bezel to swivel and show the opal from both sides.
The opal is especially interesting for having two colors: the more rounded side with many red/orange flecks and the flatter side with more shades of green. Marks: as with most antique / vintage French rings, the outside of the shank is hallmarked with both the eagle head for 18k gold, French manufacture and the diamond-shaped lozenge containing the maker's mark. Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age. A tiny crack in the gold mount is not noticeable without a loupe or magnification and can easily be rectified should the new owner wish. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
